Find New Favorites

Your teeth will be more sensitive than usual for the first 48 hours or so after a whitening treatment, they will also be more susceptible to staining. Your dentist will recommend that you avoid those foods and drinks that are known to stain your teeth for at least a week. So what will you replace some of those favorites with?

Coffee, wine (white as well as red), soda and tea are all stain producers. Water is a great substitute, not only will it not stain your teeth but it will help wash away those foods and drinks that can.

If you can’t do without your daily fix of soda at least pick one that is light, like Sprite or 7-UP and steer clear of the darker colas.

This is the perfect time to work on breaking your smoking habit. Tobacco stains on your teeth take a lot away from a healthy smile. E-cigs can be a temporary replacement for cigarettes until you can conquer your craving for nicotine.

Fresh fruits may be good for you but some of them will leave stains. Stay with blueberries or blackberries for instance. Just remember that anything that can stain your clothes can also stain your teeth.

Your dental hygienist will provide you with a list of good replacement foods and drinks to help avoid staining i.e., white fish, bananas and tonic water. Call for your appointment with Belleview Dental Associates dental hygienist.
